“Now that we have completed Phase One (the purchase of the Jerusalem World Center), we are immediately beginning work on Phase Two, the Christian Zionist Heritage Center, to tell the story of Christian love to the Jewish people. We knew that we were going to need someone inside Israel to serve as the head of this project, and today I can tell you that God is at work in an amazing way!
I am thrilled to be able to introduce to you Israeli General Yossi Peled, who has agreed to serve as a the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Christian Zionist Heritage Center at the Jerusalem World Center in the Holy City. General Peled’s life story is a perfect illustration of the work we are honoring and remembering and sharing with new generations in this wonderful museum.

Yossi Peled was born Jozef Mendelevich in Belgium in 1941. His family had fled there to escape the wave of anti-Semitism unleashed by Hitler. However, their refuge proved to be short-lived as the Germans quickly conquered Belgium, and the family made the heart-rending decision to give Yossi to a Christian family to bring up as their own. “Don’t tell anyone he is Jewish,” Yossi’s parents said. “If we can, we will come back for him.” The Christian family agreed, and never told anyone—not even Yossi—that he was Jewish. Throughout the war, at the risk of their very lives, they hid that precious secret.

All of Yossi’s family perished in the death camps at Auschwitz…except for his mother. When the war ended, she finally was able to make her way back to Belgium and reclaimed her son. They moved to Israel, where Peled studied history at Tel Aviv University. He served with distinction in the Israeli army for three decades, including seeing heavy fighting during both the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War.

General Peled’s personal story, as well as his long experience as a leader in many different roles, makes him the perfect man to head the Board of Trustees for the museum, and he has agreed to bring together twenty-five leaders from across Israel to serve with him. I have seen hundreds of promises in the pages of my Bible activated through this revelation. One of these promises had an assignment for me to anoint a young man with oil and to prophesy that he would be the prime minister of Israel, to tell the then-prime minister the prophecy, and to ask him to give the young man a position in his government.
