Christian ministry in the Middle East and Israel

"I'll never forget that question! It was just before the first Gulf War started, and I had flown to Saudi Arabia to preach the Gospel. I arrived in Dhahran and encouraged the Saudis on the street to come near to hear the message of Jesus, and a large group did come.

As I prepared to speak, I could hear the voice of Satan saying, “Do not open your mouth. If you do, you will be beheaded.” I paused and something came out of my mouth which I will never forget. I said, “Before I preach, we are going to sing a song.” Immediately, I realized how absurd my statement was—I can't sing! As I hesitated, the air was filled with what sounded like the voice of an angel of the Lord. I turned and standing behind me was an African-American sergeant who had been watching me. He sang with the most incredible baritone: “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.” Tears streamed down my face. I didn't know that soldier and had no idea he was there.

The following day, through a miracle of God, I was able to share the Gospel with Mohammad Khalid, who was the governor of Dhahran, the head of the Saudi Royal Air Force, and a nephew of the king. He took me with him to a meeting with the Egyptian Third Army and the Syrian High Command. At the end of the meeting, he asked me to introduce myself while he interpreted for me. Instead, I introduced Jesus.

He said to me, “Would you like me to show you where we cut off heads on Thursdays?” I said, “No, my schedule is totally filled on Thursday; I have no time.” He laughed. Years later, I met three Philippine pastors as I preached a crusade near the Bay of Manila to over a quarter-million people. They cried and hugged me and told me they had been condemned for preaching the Gospel in Saudi Arabia. Mohammad Khalid had commuted their sentences and deported them. He said to them, “You can thank Mike Evans who told me about your Jesus and his cross.”

The power of God is great! And He can and does work miracles when we obey His voice. Today, I'm asking you to heed His voice and help His Chosen People in a special way.

As you know, when I was in Israel I went to Haifa and met a large group of Holocaust survivors who are living in desperate need. I told them we would help because I knew you would want me to say YES! We need to raise $150,000 immediately to pay for the expenses of delivering food to 2,000 Holocaust survivors each week and to renovate four apartments to provide housing to homeless Holocaust survivors. We also must make the next payment on the Righteous Gentile Heritage Center by the end of the year. The payment that is due is $430,000.

That means that by the end of the year we must raise $580,000. In the natural, this is completely impossible. But with God all things are possible! Dear friends have provided a matching gift offer to double the impact of your gift. That means we need $290,000. The only way this miracle can happen is with your help. I am asking you today to send a generous, even sacrificial, gift to bless the Jewish People.

When we bless Israel, we bless what God wants blessed…and that turns His head and moves His hand to action in your life. And remember that your gift today will be doubled through the matching gift offer. So far 1,165 loving friends have given $127,990. That means we still need $162,010.
With your gift of any amount…

We will send you this beautiful 2014 Jerusalem Prayer Team calendar.

This fourteen-month calendar is filled with amazing scenes from Israel and Scripture verses to encourage your prayers throughout the year.

With your gift of $100 or more…

We will send you the calendar and this Star of David afghan.

The unique design of this afghan allows it to hang over a chair or couch with the design showing on both sides. It is our gift to express our gratitude for your support as we stand with and for Israel.

With your gift of $250 or more…

We will send you the calendar and this stunning Torah Scroll.

In addition, your name or the name of someone you wish to honor will be placed on a special Scroll of Honor in the Righteous Gentile Heritage Center.

Your support of the Jerusalem Prayer Team today allows us to continue our work on the Righteous Gentile Heritage Center, to stand up and speak out for Israel, and to meet urgent humanitarian needs among the poor Jewish people living in Israel.

Praclaming Jesus to the world

"Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh—very different  from what most people think
We all know of the gifts the wise men brought to Jesus, but those gifts aren't what most people think they were. Gold, frankincense and myrrh were not gifts for a baby; they were the burial items for kings. From the moment Jesus came into the world, He came to die to be the Savior of the world.

Jesus knew His purpose. Just before the crucifixion, Jesus celebrated Passover with His disciples. Years ago, an aged rabbi, then the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel, told me that the custom of the Jews was to sing Psalm 118 at the Passover. When I read that Psalm, I was astonished at the power of the words—and their fulfillment in the birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection of Christ.

Verse five: “I call upon the Lord in my distress.”
Verse six: “I will not fear what man can do to me.”
Verse ten: “All nations compassed me about.”
Verse seventeen: “I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord.”
Verse nineteen: “Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will go into them…”
Verse twenty-two: “The stone which the builders refused has become the head of the corner.”
Verse twenty-four: “This is the day which the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Verse twenty-seven: “God is the Lord which has showed us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.”

As you prepare to celebrate this wonderful holiday and the birth of our Savior, remember that He was born to die for you! God loves you so much that He gave the best gift in all of history when He sent His Son to earth. My prayer is that you will have a blessed Christmas and that 2014 will be the greatest year of your life. I speak favor over you, your children, grandchildren, your dreams and visions, and everyone you love. And I ask that you stand with us through your gift of support and love for the Jewish People.

I was in Israel last week as your Ambassador to assure the Jewish People that their Christian friends are standing with them. Sadly, the need for support of Israel and the defense of God’s Chosen People is greater than ever today. But together, we can make a difference. That is why we hosted wonderful Hanukkah parties for Holocaust survivors…and committed to do even more to help them.

Even as we increase our efforts to touch the lives of Holocaust survivors and work to meet their ongoing needs, we cannot delay our work on the Righteous Gentile Heritage Center. This vital witness of Christian love to the entire nation of Israel will only become a reality if we work and give today. And remember that your gift today will be doubled through the matching gift offer.

Update  about the Christian ministry  in  Jerusalem, by Mike Evans,

"Shalom from Jerusalem. I got up early this morning for a special time of prayer for God’s blessing in your life. I just have to share this story with you—but I warn you in advance that it made me weep.

We were in Haifa for a Hanukkah celebration for Holocaust survivors earlier this week. Most of the Holocaust survivors who came to Israel arrived by ship at the port of Haifa, and many of them stayed. In fact, the largest number of Holocaust survivors in Israel is in Haifa, and so many of them are desperately poor and in need of help. The director of the outreach there was so glad to see us and so appreciative of the furniture your generous support of the Jerusalem Prayer Team provided for them.

He told me that when they feed the Holocaust survivors, they pass out numbers so these elderly people don’t have to stand in line for lengthy periods of time. As he was going through passing out numbers, one elderly man looked at him and said, “I already have my number.” Then he rolled up his shirt sleeve and showed the prison camp number tattooed on his arm!

I wept as I heard that story. These precious people have suffered so much, and they need to see true Christian love in action. I told them we would help more because I knew you would want me to say yes…but that means I need your help today. Your gift for the Jerusalem Prayer Team today is literally food in the mouths of the hungry and warm clothes on their backs.

With your gift of any amount…

We will send you this Jerusalem Prayer Team notepad and a special Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem decal.

We must never lose sight of the vital spiritual battle that we are fighting for the future of Israel and the Jewish People, and these are great prayer reminders—and a great way to share your love of Israel with everyone who sees them.

With your gift of $30 or more…

We will send you the notepad and decal and this Star of David mizpah necklace.

For centuries, mizpah jewelry—divided into two pieces to signify togetherness even when two people are apart—has been a token of great love. You can share one piece with someone special to you, or if you prefer, we will send one half of your necklace to a Holocaust survivor in Israel as a symbol of your love for them.

When you send your gift of $100 or more…

We will send you the notepad and decal and this beautiful Comfort Ye My People afghan.

Together, we are fulfilling God’s ancient command to bring help and healing to His Chosen People. Everyone who sees this lovely color afghan will know that you stand firmly with Israel and the Jewish People.

If you are able to send a gift of $250 or more…

We will send the notepad and decal and this stunning Torah Scroll.

In addition, your name or the name of someone you wish to honor will be placed on a special Scroll of Honor in the Righteous Gentile Heritage Center.

Perhaps you would like to do even more.
